Re your story yesterday, “New effort to raise charges on Asia/Europe”. 

What do lines expect? They are looking at growth rate ex-Asia and seem to forget that several European economies are shaky, and we have probably only seen the beginning of the euro problems with weakening buying power etc.

Add to this, the next-to-irresponsible newbuilding programme that every line has embarked on and no wonder rates lie where they are – and will remain so for quite some time, until owners put vessels in lay-up to ease the overcapacity.
